November can be something of a transitional time. Halloween is over, we’ve all been to the orchard and pumpkin patches, the Farmer’s Market on the square is wrapping up for the season, and the trees are no longer in peak color as we enter winter.

So, now what?

What is there to do in Madison this month while we wait for Thanksgiving and the winter holidays? Well, we’ve put a little list together for you to consider:

Friday, November 3rd from 5-9pm is Fall Gallery Night. Gallery Night events are hosted by the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art and art and showcases the city’s vibrant arts community. During Gallery Night, dozens of venues open their doors to invite the public in to see and shop for original artwork.

November 4th and November 11th are the last days in 2023 to enjoy the Dane County Farmer’s Market on the Capitol Square. This market is the largest producer-only market in the country, and there is plenty of high-quality produce and products available from area farmers for your fall cooking.

One of Madison’s most charming neighborhoods is Monroe Street on the city’s near-west side. Every month, Monroe Street holds a “First Fridays” where you can head to that area and participating boutiques and shops will be open later, special pop-ups will appear, as well as food, drinks, and music. First Friday for this month is November 4.

Okay, so we mentioned that the Dane County Farmer’s Market outside on the capitol square will be done in 2023 as of November 11th. However, the following weekend on November 18th, the indoor Holiday Dane County Farmer’s Market begins! Located inside the Monona Terrace, this version of one of Madison’s favorite events is held in the famous Monona Terrace, featuring over 60 vendors. This market is held on November 18, December 2, December 9, and December 16.

Starting on November 19th, the Holiday Fantasy Lights is back at Olin Park through early January. This free drive-through experience of 50+ light displays is open from 4:30-10:30 PM daily.

Downtown Madison Holiday Open House On November 24th, head on over to downtown Madison for free trolley rides, holiday carolers, special crafts, special shows for the family, and more! It is also a good opportunity to shop small and support our local downtown Madison businesses this holiday season.

If you’re looking for a place to for your Thanksgiving guests to stay, look no further than what we have to offer at The Madison Concourse Hotel. We are also offering rooms at a discounted price so your guests have their own, cozy space while celebrating the holiday.
