Here are a few weekday favorites that pair perfectly with your next event:
Concerts on the Square (Wednesdays, Capitol Lawn)

Jazz at 5 (Wednesdays, late summer)
Jazz at 5 brings smooth, soulful music to the heart of downtown. Held on the 100 block of State Street or at the top of State near the Capitol, it’s a perfect low-key social outing after a day of meetings.
Dane County Farmers Market (Wednesdays, MLK Boulevard)
Madison is well-known for hosting the largest producer-only farmer’s market on the capitol square on Saturday mornings during the warmer, seasonal months. But you don’t have to be here on a Saturday to partake in this popular Madison tradition–the Dane County Farmers’ Market is also downtown on Wednesdays from 8:30 until 1:45 PM on Martin Luther King Boulevard near the Monona Terrace, just off the capitol square. Grab some fresh, local produce or other goods (including squeaky cheesecurds) while taking in our vibrant downtown. There are also many different community farmer’s markets around the Madison area every week:
Eastside Farmers Market (Tuesday evenings, McPike Park)
Capitol View Farmers Market (Wednesday evenings, outside Grant Park Apartments)
Northside Farmers Market (Sunday mornings, Northside Town Center)
Madison Labor Temple (South Madison): Sundays 11am-3pm, Tuesdays 2-6pm
Novation Center (South Madison): Mondays, 2-6pm

Hilldale Farmers Market (Sundays and Wednesday mornings, behind LL Bean)
Monroe Street Farmers Market (Sunday Mornings, Edgewood High School)
Westside Community Market (Saturday Mornings, inside University Research Park)
Dane County Fair (July 17-20)
Celebrating over 175 years of community spirit, this family-friendly event offers a dynamic mix of entertainment, agriculture, and local flavor. Attendees can enjoy free nightly concerts, a world-class carnival, and a variety of exhibits showcasing youth projects and livestock. Each day brings unique themes—like Hometown Hero Day and Farm Fresh Day—ensuring there's something special for everyone. Of course, you can expect your favorite fair foods to be served. Funnel cakes, anyone?
Bodegas at Breese (Select weekdays, Breese Stevens Field)
Think block party meets night market. Bodegas at Breese features live music, food trucks, craft vendors, and community vibes—all just a short walk or drive from downtown. It’s an excellent offsite option if your group wants something fun and casual.
Madison Night Market (select Thursday evenings once-a-month, downtown Madison)
Madison Night Market is a vibrant, free event held downtown on select Thursday evenings from May through October. Local artists, makers, and food vendors fill State Street and the surrounding area, while live music, street performers, and family activities create a festive, community-focused atmosphere. It’s the perfect way to enjoy Madison’s creative energy under the lights.
Orton Park Festival (August 29-31)
The Orton Park Festival, Madison's longest-running outdoor music celebration, returns for its 60th in the heart of the Marquette neighborhood. Set beneath the majestic oaks of historic Orton Park, this free, family-friendly event offers a rich blend of live music, local food, artisan vendors, and cherished community traditions. Highlights include performances by regional and national bands, and the mesmerizing aerial artistry of Cycropia.
