Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony

This concert begins with an evocation of nature by the tragically short-lived composer Lili Boulanger. Next, you will get to hear “Impressions of Autumn” from “The Four Seasons” by Vivaldi, followed by “Primavera Porteña (Spring)” from “The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires” by Astor Piazzolla. Hindemith’s roaring “Symphonic Metamorphosis,“ will showcase the Madison Symphony’s virtuosos before settling us into the final piece. Every measure of the poetic “Pastoral” Symphony animates Beethoven’s impressions of country life. This is Beethoven at peace, amid his beloved nature.
