Devil’s Lake State Park
Located about 45 minutes from downtown Madison, Devil’s Lake State Park is Wisconsin’s most visited state park—and for good reason. Towering 500-foot quartzite bluffs surround a crystal-clear lake, creating some of the most spectacular scenery in the Midwest.
Visitors can hike more than 25 miles of trails, swim at two sandy beaches, rent kayaks or paddleboards, rock climb, picnic, or simply enjoy the breathtaking views from the bluff-top overlooks.
Governor Nelson State Park
Just 20 minutes from downtown, Governor Nelson State Park offers an easy escape to the shores of Lake Mendota. The park features hiking trails, picnic areas, a swimming beach, fishing opportunities, and beautiful lake views, making it a favorite for visitors looking to spend a relaxing afternoon outdoors without venturing too far from the city.
Blue Mound State Park
Located west of Madison, Blue Mound State Park sits atop the highest point in southern Wisconsin. Indian Lake County Park

The park is especially beautiful during spring and summer when wildflowers are in bloom, and it’s a favorite destination for birdwatching and photography.
Donald County Park

Token Creek County Park
Just northeast of Madison, Token Creek County Park offers something for everyone. Cherokee Marsh Conservation Park
